I gave a talk in October to a group of college gymnasts. I was nervous (and my beet-red face showed up too, lovely). I told myself to just start speaking — and it turned out fine. I survived and actually had a good time.
I was looking over the slides I’d done for that presentation; I’d like to share them. One of the things that has helped me out of my personal swamp has been starting to get that everyone has struggles in life sometimes. It’s not that I’m bad, crazy, or wrong — I’m simply human. However, I think it can be really easy to get caught up in focusing on only highlights — and only seeing the highlights of others (hello, social media). Yeah, we don’t really share the reality of the messy times. You just don’t do that.
So, I’d like to share some different slices of life — the stuff that’s “okay” to share and the taboo stuff you don’t talk about (or at least I used to think I shouldn’t).
If you want to check out Glennon Doyle and Momastery, here’s the site: momastery.com.
No, you’re not crazy (or if you are, I am too, so you’re in good company). You’re a fabulously messy human, doing your best in this life.
As always, if you have thoughts or comments you’d like to share, please feel free to leave a comment below. And rock on. You’re doing great.
